Slept in a bit as me and Pierre chatted until after midnight. Had some nice internet time over coffee. Sent James, the friend introduced by Pierre, a text explaining some of the details which Pierre and myself had discussed last night. He called me back voice and we chatted while preparing as well as the walk to the facilities for a shower. If we can find at least one person to crew for James then we may be able to convoy down to Montreal together. It would not only be a nice support for each other but James has a nice dingy that could be handy when making anchorages along the way.
After the shower it was back to Makina where some searching on FB for crew was done. The search did not return any likely candidates. Many of them were in Eurpose.
Not sure if Greg, a fellow who was showing some interest when back on the hard in Scarborough. By some of his FB posting he may have gone off on another adventure, perhaps having gotten tired of waiting. We shall see as he was DMed by me to ask if he was still interested.
Started outside to work on cleaning off some mysterious goop from the deck when a huge dark cloud hovered overhead and rained down on me. The marks all over the port and forward decks seemed to be caused by the mystery things in the photo below.
My guess is they were walked on when giving Pierre and James a tour of Makina the other night. It left marks as shown in the photo below.
After some elbow grease on the brush and a light detergent soap the deck was itself once again.
After some elbow grease...
Went inside to do some more crew searches until the showers stopped. Once clear again continued to scrub the deck in between the odd shower which were somewhat infrequent. Also assembled the drill pump in between showers.
Had a nice supper of vegan lentil soup in a can which Lori had brought on board. She bought some small cases of different stuff like that from the boat's kitty. There is probably enough food supplies on board to reach Montreal, yet should plan that out menu wise perhaps.
After supper it was waiting for darkness to kick off Operation Drill-Pump. That is an operation to empty out the stagnated water in Marika's water tank. The water had likely been there since she was put on the hard a year and a half ago. It was stank. It was gross. Was recommended to rinse a second time with vinegar. Maybe a third for good luck? 😳
Looks like the drill-pump is getting towards the bottom of the tank, so shall get this posted so as to slide into my berth like Lou Brock stealing a base.
May the wind be at your back!
