Can someone please explain to me why ecency points continue to exist? Was pushing buttons in the wallet today and discovered that I was closing in on 35k ecency points, with the unlikely estimated value of nearly $70 USD. Yeeehaw, right? Near as I can tell though, their sole purpose seems to be in-game currency for a choose-your-own-advertising adventure.
Got nothing against ecency, it's my preferred front end, but ever since boost went away the whole points thing has seemed like a bit of an evolutionary dead end. Don't know about y'all but I don't want to see sponsored posts, much less be a participant in the whole process of sponsoring them. Hell, 'include reblogs' is bad enough. From how it was explained to me I get the impression boost was never sustainable, but if we're stuck with infinitely accumulating points, can we at least come up with something entertaining to do with them?
Anybody got any ideas? This is only partially a rant, looking for ideas too. Could do a Hive equivalent to the Razzies, give points out as prizes for awards like 'Most Generic Comments of the Year' or the 'Gangstalking Lifetime Achievement Award'. Would love to play poker with points but I'm not sure how you could even pull that off. Points aren't even tokens are they? Anybody want to start making book with points?
It'd be fun, we could do death pools, or any other sort of betting that'd be illegal if anything of value was being wagered. Alright, now who wants to bet 1000 points on how long the blockchain will last?

Yeah at some point I did notice that boost went away and I was perturbed by it to say the least. I had fun doing it as my own little curation program since I don’t have massive amounts of hive power. When they stopped I was mad lol and I stopped using it. The front end was pretty good but I do things on dark mode and it NEVER stuck. Even if it tried to use system default or whatever it was always dark but never stuck lol. Stuff like that threw me off. Add the useless points to it and I’m good for now.
Would love to figure out what they plan to do in the future for it.

Man, I loved boost, was so nice to be able to drop a couple bucks on a post that wasn't getting the love it should. Always had an abundance of points so I was forever trying to boost shit, towards the end it got to where it hardly ever went through. They were minting waaaay too many points for them to be able to keep doing the boost, but it was fun while it lasted. Which front end do you use? Lol, I'd got something of a warning that boost was in trouble so it wasn't as annoying, still like it better than the other front ends.
I'm voting for points poker/casino...
These days I primarily use PeakD. It's solid, works well on desktop and mobile and it retains my freaking color settings!!! Lol.
I did have to use hive.blog a few weeks back, man that was rough after using PeakD and Ecency for so long lol
