Suggestions For Improvement of Reward Distribution on Hive

in LeoFinance23 days ago

Don't you think Hive needs to bring some improvements in its rewards distribution system?

Hive can create a more equitable and engaging reward system for authors by refining allocation methods, promoting quality content, and enhancing transparency.

Adjusting reward distribution on Hive can be approached through several strategies to improve fairness, incentivize quality content, and optimize engagement.

Current Reward System

Authors receive 50% of the post's earnings, split into Hive Power (HP) and Hive Backed Dollars (HBD). Rewards depend on upvotes, which are weighted by the voting power of curators.

Curators earn the other 50% of a post's payout based on the weight of their HP upvotes.

Adjusting Reward Allocation

Authors currently receive only half of the rewards, which might discourage content creation. Increasing the author share to 60-70% could better incentivize high-quality content.

Introduce a variable reward split based on content quality metrics (e.g., engagement rates or originality). This would reward effortful posts more generously.

Implement algorithms that prioritize rewarding posts with higher effort and originality rather than posts receiving votes from accounts having high HP alone.

Encourage curators to leave constructive feedback on medium-quality posts, fostering growth among new authors and improving overall content standards.

Penalize spammy or low-effort posts by reducing their reward eligibility. This could involve stricter moderation or automated filters.

Reward curators who responsibly use downvotes to maintain content quality without abusing the system.

Provide detailed analytics for authors to understand how rewards are calculated and distributed, increasing trust in the system.

Teach new users about optimizing their reward settings and creating impactful content through tutorials or workshops.

Allow authors to choose their reward structure (e.g., 100% Hive Power or liquid payouts), catering to individual preferences and goals.

Introduce community-specific tokens that supplement author rewards, encouraging participation in niche communities.

Beneficiary posts enable authors to share a portion of their rewards with collaborators or projects. Promoting this feature could foster teamwork and support community initiatives.

These changes would not only attract new users but also retain existing ones by ensuring fair compensation for their efforts.

Nice post, but I was just thinking, wouldn't that make this platform a centralized platform instead of the decentralized platform it projects. I understand spammers should be control, but I feel the method may be too strict. Quality is subjective and this is why some leave Web2 to Web3. I'm glad everyone has their HP to determine how much reward anyone gets. I believe if you see something you feel based on your preferences it's low effort then you should just ignore it.

There are obvious rules that you shouldn't break, the common sense rules.

Anyways, you have a solid point of rewarding authors that put in effort. I completely agree with you on that
