Argentina - A walk along Ushuaia's waterfront: when the day is sunny, it is mandatory to take advantage of it. / Paseo por la costanera de Ushuaia: cuando el día está soleado, es obligatorio aprovecharlo. 😃❤️

After all this time in Ushuaia, I learned that if there is a moment of sunshine, you have to go out and enjoy it for a while because you never know when it might happen again. In this city the microclimate is very marked, which means that there are days with all seasons included. It is common in Ushuaia to see cloudy and cold days, but fortunately, sometimes nature gives us bright and warm days to go for a walk along the waterfront 😃.

Después de todo este tiempo en Ushuaia, aprendí que si hay un momento con sol, hay que salir a disfrutarlo un poco porque nunca se sabe cuando se pueda volver a repetir. En esta ciudad está muy marcado el microclima, lo que hace que hayan días con todas las estaciones incluidas. Lo común en Ushuaia es ver días nublados y fríos, pero por suerte, a veces la naturaleza regala días brillantes y cálidos como para salir a caminar un poco por la costanera 😃.

Well, a warm day in this city is relative, since in the whole summer season, the maximum temperature we had was only 18°C. This temperature allows you to walk a little lightly clothed in the city centre, although you should not be so confident about that either, because wind is never lacking. What I like most about this city is that everything is close to the mountains, and no matter how small your walk is, you can have an incredible view wherever you look 😃.

Bueno, lo de día cálido en esta ciudad es relativo, ya que en toda la temporada de verano, la temperatura máxima que tuvimos fue solo de 18°C. Esta temperatura te permite caminar un poco ligero de ropa en el centro de la ciudad, aunque tampoco hay que confiarse tanto de eso, porque viento es lo que nunca falta. Lo que más me gusta de esta ciudad es que todo esta cerca de las montañas, y por más pequeño que sea tu paseo, ya podes tener unas vistas increíbles mires para donde mires 😃.

As I have done on almost all my previous trips, I came to Ushuaia to do a work-for-housing exchange. I had already worked in this hostel, so I came back and I already knew everyone and most of the city. The hostel where I'm staying is about 10 blocks from the waterfront and on a high street, so from there we have a good view of the mountains and the Beagle Channel. But if you want to appreciate it better, it's always worth a visit 😃.

Al igual que vengo haciendo casi en todos mis viajes anteriores, llegué a Ushuaia para hacer un intercambio de trabajo por alojamiento. Yo ya había trabajado en este hostel, así que volví y ya conocía a todos y a gran parte de la ciudad. El hostel en donde estoy queda a unas 10 cuadras de la costanera y en una calle alta, por lo que desde ahí mismo ya tenemos una buena vista a las montañas y al canal de Beagle. Pero si queres apreciarlo mejor, siempre vale la pena acercarse 😃.

Ushuaia has a waterfront from where you can see the Beagle Channel and also some ships parked in it. This city has a wide port activity, both commercial and touristic. According to my survey of all the times I walked around there, there are at least three docks where you can take one of these boats, either for rides or for those who work there 😃.

Ushuaia tiene una costanera desde donde se puede apreciar el canal de Beagle y también algunos barcos estacionados en él. Esta ciudad tiene una actividad portuaria amplia, tanto comercial como turística. Según mi relevamiento de todas las veces que caminé por ahí, hay al menos tres muelles en donde se puede tomar alguno de estos barcos, para dar paseos o para quienes trabajan ahí 😃.

Obviously the busiest of the three is the tourist harbour, right in the middle of the waterfront. Here you can find the small offices selling excursions for sailing trips, as well as the classic Ushuaia sign for the photo and bragging on social networks. Ushuaia's sailing excursions are not cheap at all: this season, if you wanted to see the Lighthouse at the End of the World you had to pay about $75, to see the penguins from the boat on Martillo Island the cost was $140, and if you wanted to do the excursion that goes down to the island and walk with the penguins, it was already $250. It may seem a lot for an excursion of only a few hours, but there were days when all the places were full 🙃.

Obviamente que el más concurrido de los tres es el puerto turístico, justo en la mitad de la costanera. En este lugar se pueden encontrar las pequeñas oficinas de ventas de excursiones para navegaciones, y también el clásico cartel de Ushuaia para la foto y alardear en las redes sociales. Las excursiones de navegaciones en Ushuaia no son para nada económicas: en esta temporada, si deseabas ver el Faro del Fin del Mundo tenías que pagar unos $75, por ir a ver los pingüinos desde el barco en la Isla Martillo el costo ascendía a $140, y si querías hacer la excursión que desciende a la isla y camina con los pingüinos, ya costaba $250. Puede parecer bastante para una excursión de solo unas horas, pero hubo días en que todos los cupos estaban llenos 🙃.

It's no surprise that Ushuaia in Tierra del Fuego is an expensive holiday destination, but I think it's also possible to do a low cost tour. For example, if the weather is beautiful like on the day of this tour, you can do a lot of free walks that allow you to discover the city and its surroundings. That's just the point: if you happen to have an amazing day like this one. Luckily, my trip to Ushuaia was very long and relaxed, but even so, every time there was a bit of sunshine, I went out to make the most of it: it's not common for the sun to show itself for long 😅.

No es ninguna sorpresa que Ushuaia en Tierra del Fuego sea un destino caro para visitar en vacaciones, pero creo que también es posible hacer un paseo low cost. Por ejemplo, si el clima es hermoso como en el día de este paseo, se pueden hacer un montón de caminatas gratis que te permiten descubrir la ciudad y alrededores. La cuestión es esa: que te toque un día increíble como este. Por suerte, mi viaje a Ushuaia fue muy largo y relajado, pero igualmente cada vez que hubo un poco de sol, salí a aprovecharlo: no es común que el sol se muestre por mucho tiempo 😅.
