So, last Saturday we had our hangout as usual, and it was just so much fun we did not want it to end. We are currently on the second topic for this week which is “SURROGACY”.
But before we proceed with the details of the topic, let us take a look at the winners of the last topic which was “THE COST OF LIVING”.
This topic was geared toward each member of the community telling us about the cost of living in their locality. How expensive basic amenities are and how they manage to survive in the worsening economy.
We got to see how hard it could be for the average individual in a world that was steadily getting worse while the financial capacity remained stagnant. For many, relocation is not the solution as it wouldn't change the cost of living by much. So, it seems that in the end, it will always be up to the government to make things work as they should. It was an enlightening topic, indeed.
For this topic, we went through every entry post, and that is every post with the #hl-exclusive & #hl-w159e1 tag. And with the number of wonderful posts out there it was quite difficult to make a selection. But eventually, we did just that. For this author, the cost of living in Nigeria has risen by about 212%, and this is happening even when there is no tangible increase in the earning capacity of the populace. While things get more expensive, people still earn the same amount of money. As a result, there is widespread hardship, making survival look like a privilege and a luxury.

For this author, he compared the cost of living in the Philippines to that of living back home in Canada. He shared with us the changes that he had witnessed and how he was taking steps to take advantage of them. Living in the Philippines is considerably cheaper than living in Canada and it’s giving him exactly what he wants; means to survive off the grid.
