My journey with Digital minimalism

In today's digital age, it's easy to get caught up in the constant stream of information and notifications that bombard us daily. For some some people, digital minimalism is hard to keep up, I'm one of those individuals. In the past years i find it so difficult to delete apps and pictures.

I love going back to my gallery at least once a month, it just gives me this sense of satisfaction, looking at the activities i engaged in the past month, i love memories too, so most times i keep my pictures and videos for the future.

To be very honest, I've attempted digital minimalism several times, but it seems not to be working for me, probably it's because I've not really made up my mind yet. Back in 2024, my cousin and i decided to try out digital minimalism, we both agreed we won't be active in any social media platform for a whole week. Did we stick to the plan? Of course not. (pause to laugh in shame)

We both didn't keep stick to the plan, when we saw eachother active on WhatsApp, she sent me a DM asking me what i'm doing online, i also asked her the same question. We both laughed at eachother. I have over 10 apps in my phone which I don't make use of, now the problem is deleting it. I just find it so hard to delete apps from my phone. I use to love playing candy crush game, but due to my busy schedule, i haven't opened the candy crush app for a long time now, as a matter of fact, it's been 4 months since i played the game, i can't seem to get rid of the app.

All the apps above are more likely to be dormant apps, because i barely make use of any of them.

Digital minimalism might be easy for some, but not for me. I've tried it countless times, but i just can't get myself to do it. Recently my friend deleted Tiktok from het phone, according to her, she said she wants to be serious with her life..LOL
i understood the fact she was tryna minimise her screen time, or maybe focus on more important things.

I have over 60 apps on my phone, but i barely use ten percent of them. Whenever i want to delete any of the apps on my phone, i just get this feeling of ...
"I might need to use this app in future"

At the end of the day, I'd end up leaving the apps on my phone without ever needing to use them . Recently I've been saving short meme videos on my phone, with the aim of posting them on my WhatsApp status. At the end of the day, I'd end up not posting them.

Would i delete them?
No i won't, i just like having them on my phone, maybe whenever I'm bored, i can go back to them and laugh about some of the funny memes. Well, i use to be found of deleting pictures and screenshots from my gallery, but everything changed when I accidentally deleted my Trust wallet, 12 words pass phrase.

I almost ran mad, because i had alot of money in my trust wallet account, there was no way i could retrieve the account without the 12 words pass phrase. This happened back in 2022, after this incident, i stopped deleting things anyhow, including apps, pictures and videos. I guess digital minimalism isn't for me.

Delete. You can always install them again when needed.

I'd try, even though it's not that easy.

Honestly it's not easy but I thinks it's possible.
I told myself not to be active on social media I had to delete my Facebook for a while, it helped me think straight strolling can be so boring and time consuming.

I appreciate the fact that you are being honest with this question.

Wow you took a bold step in deleting your Facebook, for someone like you, you can actually succeed in digital minimalism.

I appreciate your comment so much, thanks for stopping by ❤️

I advised you to uninstall all the unused apps on your phone and also videos and audio that occupied much space on your phone

I guess this is a good idea 💡
