Good evening, FungiFriends!
Here is my contribution to #FungiFriday by @ewkaw :)
Welcome to all fungus lovers! It's been so long since I've shared here in this community, and a lot of it is because of what happened to me a few months ago... I ran out of photos that I had archived on various disks on my computer.
But on a long weekend a few months ago, with nothing planned and most of my closest friends out of Lisbon because of the festivities, I decided to take the train and go and see the beautiful and iconic city of Coimbra on foot.
I woke up very early and took the Intercidades train first thing in the morning. The journey of just over 200 kilometers was very pleasant, and what's more, in addition to my reduced carbon footprint, I took advantage of the travel time to read a book that I'm really enjoying!
In the future I'll share a post about my walking tour of the city and its iconic parks and sites. One of the fantastic places I went to was the Botanical Garden of the University of Coimbra. Founded in 1772 (source), it is indeed a very pleasant place to spend an hour, breathe in the fresh air and take in the stunning green landscape that surrounds it.
Although the Garden is undergoing renovations to improve access, as well as the restoration of some themed green spaces, it is still possible to take advantage of what is accessible, and breathe deeply...
This is the awesome view that we have from the main entrance, next to the University buidings
After passing the iron gates, a very pretty cobbled walkway that gives an excellent triumphant entrance to this century-old garden undergoing renovation
The paths wind through the many leafy trees
It was a particularly bright day
And this large tree... how many years will it have been standing?
One of the later parts is closed to the public. Although it was a dead end because of the works, I went to see it and didn't regret it. The path is an intense green because of the moss that has grown and taken over the ground
And this fantastic passage. The bamboo grove (link). I didn't even know this word existed.
And this fantastic fungus called shaggy ink cap, lawyer's wig, or shaggy mane! Its scientific name is Coprinus comatus
Here's one who's already a repeat offender... And all of them at the base of a very large oak tree! Psilocybe cyanescens
Just outside the garden, two orange trees laden with fruit, with a crowd of ripe oranges at their "feet"!
There were some worked stones, but they didn't seem as old as the garden. Probably from the end of the previous century, perhaps.
I hope you enjoyed my humble post here in your #FungiFriday community!
Thank you for taking the time to read my post

This seems like the perfect way to spend a day. I can almost smell the fresh air from the photographs. Beautiful mushrooms as well. Thank you for sharing! :)
It was, grateful!
Trust me that this is only a small part of the so lovely day that I had, and that I plan to share soon.
Have a great weekend
That's great, I am happy to hear this. Best to you as well!
