Sunset and a beer
Last weekend I found this simple but great beer in my fridge and invited it to enjoy the sunset with me.
Hey Hive Family
enjoy a sunset with beer
and let us travel the world again
The Beer and the taste
Steinfelder Klosterbräu – the name alone conjures images of ancient abbey walls, dusty recipe books, and maybe a sprinkle of monk magic.
And that’s exactly what you’re getting in the glass. With just 5.4% ABV, this beer plays in the classic league, but in a way that had me hooked from the very first sip.
It’s a full-bodied, well-balanced Helles that starts by flirting with a malty sweetness before letting a gentle hop bitterness round things off.
No gimmicks, no fuss means just honest craftsmanship: soft mouthfeel, slightly grainy, pleasantly spritzy
Perfect for winding down, a second glass, and quite possibly a third, if you can squeeze it out of the bottle.
The Klosterbräu
What makes this beer special? Easy: real craftsmanship, plain and simple. Steinfelder Klosterbräu is brewed strictly according to the German Beer Purity Law of 1516, and trust me, you can taste it.
No crazy experiments here. This beer comes just the essentials: water, malt, hops, yeast plus the skill.
In a world where every second brewer is tossing in things like juniper berries, fermented mangoes, or a dash of Himalayan salt, this return to tradition feels almost revolutionary.
3. A classical cover
The label of Steinfelder Klosterbräu is a relief for anyone who’s had enough of neon colors and comic-style fonts. Here, classic design reigns: a stylized abbey motif in warm tones, a touch of gold, and clean, traditional typography.
Back to the roots of beer labels
No flashy nonsense, no screaming colors – the design quietly says,
"I don’t need to shout to stand out."
The bottle itself feels sturdy, almost rustic. Exactly how a monastery beer should look and feel. A real shelf-pleaser.
4. The Brewery
As the name suggests, Steinfelder Klosterbräu comes from the brewery at Kloster Steinfeld in the beautiful Eifel region south of Aachen. At least it makes you thinking this. And honestly, could there be a better place for an honest beer than a monastery with centuries of brewing tradition?
The abbey itself sits idyllically between rolling hills and old beech forests, with historic walls and a cloister that practically begs you to stroll through with a cool beer in hand.
Fun fact: rumor has it, they still align their brewing process with the monastery’s ancient daily rhythms – complete with early morning beers and vespers.
True or not?
No idea, but I’d believe them.
Anyway, today the beer just keep the name of the Kloster Steinfeld but it is brewed close by in GmĂĽnd. Gotcha!
Final Thoughts
Steinfelder Klosterbräu isn’t a flashy show-off. This is a beer with character, roots, and a refreshing sense of down-to-earth honesty.
It’s proof that sometimes, four simple ingredients – and a touch of monastic finesse – are all you need to create something genuinely good.
For me, it’s the perfect companion when you want to slow down and just enjoy the moment. And honestly, after the third big sip, you’ll feel a little like a monk yourself. Cheers!
Have a great day everybody
and let us travel the world again
